Plans by county

What changes in your county?

Medicare Advantage and Marketplace plans depend on the county where you live. Choose yours and talk to a licensed agent who explains your options.

In short

Do health plans change by county?

Yes. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by county and Marketplace (ACA) plans by rating area. Insurers, provider networks and premiums can vary from one county to another and from year to year. A licensed agent explains what applies in your area.

Why your county matters

What changes from county to county

The plans

Medicare Advantage is offered by county and the Marketplace (ACA) by rating area.

The insurers

Not all insurers operate in every county. A neighboring county may have different options.

The networks

Your doctors and hospitals must be in the plan’s network in your area.

The premiums

They can vary by county, age, plan and cost help. A $0 plan is not guaranteed.

Questions worth asking

Clear answers to what confuses people most about Medicare and Obamacare.

01

What happens if I don't sign up for Medicare on time?

If you could have had Part B and didn't take it, your premium rises 10% for each full 12 months of delay, for as long as you have Medicare. That's why the 7-month window around your 65th birthday matters.

02

Does Medicare cover everything?

No. Original Medicare doesn't cover most dental, vision or hearing aids, and it has no annual out-of-pocket cap. An Advantage plan or a Supplement can fill those gaps.

03

Can I keep my doctor?

It depends on the plan. With Original Medicare you can see any doctor who accepts Medicare; Advantage and Obamacare plans each have a network. We check with you that your doctors and pharmacy are in network.

04

Why do two people pay different premiums on the same Obamacare plan?

Because the tax credit that lowers your premium depends on income and household size. That's why we estimate your help before you pick a plan.

05

Can a plan turn me down for a condition I already have?

Not Marketplace (ACA) plans: they can't reject you or charge you more for a pre-existing condition.

06

What if I lose my coverage mid-year?

You may have 60 days to enroll in an ACA plan, or a special window in Medicare. Call us soon: the clock starts on the date of the event.
